Recipes that Give
Egg Farmers of Canada and Food Banks Canada celebrate more than 20 years of partnership

Egg Farmers of Canada and Food Banks Canada are inviting you to share your favourite time-saving holiday recipe using the hashtag #RecipesThatGive to inspire others to use their time to support their local food banks.

Egg Farmers of Canada is a committed partner in Food Banks Canada’s mission to feed Canada. For more than two decades, Canada’s egg farmers have donated over one million eggs a year to food banks across the country.

With more than 1,000 egg farmers and farm families in all provinces and in the Northwest Territories, Canadian egg farmers are dedicated to delivering the constant supply of fresh, local eggs that Canadians want and enjoy—all while giving back to the communities where they live and work.

Community engagement is rooted in the traditions of family farming, and egg farmers believe that Canadians need access to more food like eggs—nutritious, affordable and rich in protein. Through our partnership, we’re able to make sure more Canadian communities can access the incredible nutrition found in eggs.

Eggs are a nutritious option families can depend on

Here are just a few reasons why eggs are an important item for food banks:

  • Eggs are a natural, fresh, source of high-quality protein and have 14 important nutrients such as vitamin B12, vitamin A, iron and folate. They’re a great choice for families.
  • Eggs offer much more than protein—they’re an affordable staple product in Canadian households. Think about it like this: a dozen eggs, one of the most high-quality proteins you can buy, costs less than the price of a latte.
  • They’re versatile. From a quick breakfast sandwich to a scramble, lunch or family dinner, the options for cooking with eggs are endless.

Did you know that 40% of food shared by food banks across Canada is fresh or frozen? Fruits, vegetables, dairy and protein, like eggs, make it into the hands of families and individuals who need it each day through local food banks.

Support your local food bank this holiday season by sharing your time or by making a donation. And, join Egg Farmers of Canada in sharing your favourite egg-focused holiday recipe using the hashtag #RecipesThatGive.
