Every Plate Full – helping to fill much needed plates through the summer.
What is Every Plate Full?
With 26,548,725 meals needed to feed Canadians who are hungry this summer, Food Banks Canada is asking Canadians coast-to-coast  to help make #EveryPlateFull with their new, national fundraising campaign running from May 2 to 8.

As food bank donations are at their lowest during the summer, Food Banks Canada along with 103 local food banks and provincial associations across Canada are depending on the inaugural #EveryPlateFull campaign to help to raise the food and funds needed to fill plates during the summer.

Why is the summer an important time to help?
Summer is a particularly difficult time for families living with food insecurity as school supported breakfast and lunch programs close with the schools for the holidays. As 37% of the people turning to food banks for help are children, school holidays combined with the traditional drop in summer donations put a tremendous stress on families struggling to get by.

How can you get involved?
To show support for Canadians who are hungry in communities across Canada, and raise awareness of this campaign, we are asking community members to:
- Go online to www.everyplatefull.ca to the Donate tab to find your local food bank or provincial association and join a team by setting up your own page to collect donations on their behalf or support another participant.
- Make a special non-perishable food donation directly to  your local food banks.
- Post a picture of an empty plate on social media along with #EveryPlateFull and a link to encourage donations.  The goal is to have thousands of different types of plates posted – fine dining, everyday kitchen, chipped, brand new and even paper – to illustrate how widespread hunger is in Canada.

Does my dollar make a difference?
Every dollar you donate is able to provide three meals to someone in need -so every dollar really makes a difference.
