Celebrating Our Donors!
We are incredibly thankful to our dedicated donors who are essential to our success and our ability to reduce hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow. Through their help, we have been able to acquire and share millions of pounds of food and distribute program grants to food banks across the country. On June 8th, we acknowledged the outstanding efforts of our corporate partners at our annual Donor Recognition Event.

Every year, we recognize the companies who have stood out in the crowd with our Corporate Donor Awards.   These companies have all made outstanding commitments to Food Banks Canada and through their work have made a difference in the lives of Canadians.

Our Award of Excellence was given to Walmart Canada. This is the Food Banks Canada equivalent of the lifetime achievement award. We were proud to recognize Walmart’s long-term commitment to food banks and Food Banks Canada and their pivotal role in the creation of the Retail Food Program that matches Walmart stores with food banks. Since 2011, Walmart has provided Food Banks Canada more than $1 million in support and provided local food banks with more than 4 million pounds of food and consumer goods.

Our Donor of the Year Award was presented to BESTSELLER who had the largest one-day campaign in Food Banks Canada’s history. Their Give-A-Day campaign raised over $200,000 and helped purchase 17 number fridges and freezers for local food banks!
This year, two organizations, Farm Credit Canada and Compass Group, were recognized as Innovator of the Year for their unique contributions. Farm Credit Canada, who also has one of the largest national food drives called Drive Away Hunger, helped to develop the meal metric Food Banks Canada uses for national campaigns. Their research
helped us determine that $1 donated is equal to 3 meals!

Compass Group has been a key investor in our Community Gardens program, benefiting food banks across Canada, to increase access to fresh food. They were recognized for their 360 degree approach to corporate social responsibility – engaging their staff, suppliers and customers!

Thank you to all our committed donors who help to reduce hunger and raise awareness about the issue of hunger in Canada.

Don’t miss!
