BESTSELLER is arranging a world-wide charity day across all its brands and countries.  ‘One day to unite and do good’ is what it’s all about. The name of the event is GIVE-A-DAY and the concept is simply ‘Everything customers spend on April 10th is given to charity’. Customers can shop online or in-store at Jack & Jones or Vero Moda; and give back with style to show support for their community.
 
50% of the net sales generated in Canada will be donated to Food Banks Canada for their National Food Sharing System (NFSS). One of Food Banks Canada’s key goals is to acquire and share food and consumer products with food banks across the country assuring that no one goes hungry.
 
“In BESTSELLER we are privileged to be able to make a positive difference for others and the world around us. Therefore, we have decided to give something back to the communities, where our customers have helped us grow,” says BESTSELLER Corporate Communication Director Mogens Werge.
 
According to HungerCount, close to 850,000 people are assisted by a food bank each month, and almost 40% are children. The need across the country is high.
 
The NFSS is the only program working with manufacturers, grocery retailers and many other organizations to raise food and share over 20 million lbs of food with food banks. Food is acquired through large scale food donations from manufacturers, partnering food banks with local grocery outlets to pick up surplus food and facilitating national food drives. The NFSS also shares all categories of foods including fresh produce, meat, dairy and canned and packaged goods.
 
“It’s really exciting to see a company like BESTSELLER support this issue and focus on giving back to charity,” says Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director, Food Banks Canada. “With the donations from the GIVE-A-DAY campaign, we are able to acquire and share a substantial amount of essential food to our food bank network across the country.”
